Nuthouse & Spirithouse Pinot Noirs Score Well

Wednesday, August 20, 2008

2005 Pinot Noir Nuthouse - 90
Medium red. Rich cherry, blackberry and chocolate aromas expand in the glass and gain an exotic incense quality. Creamy dark fruit flavors offer palate-staining concentration, with building spiciness and gentle tannins adding support. Finishes with good spicy lift and excellent persistence, with the blackberry flavor repeating.

2005 Pinot Noir Spirithouse - 90
Medium red color. Intensely floral scents of zesty red berries, rose, magnolia, Asian spices and pungent herbs. Sappy raspberry and cherry flavors gain richness with air while maintaining a vibrant personality. Tangy cherry skin and baking spice notes dominate the long, juicy finish of this nicely balanced wine.
