Argyle's Summer & Winter Shipping Policies

Extreme heat and cold can ruin wine.

FROM MAY 23 to SEPTEMBER 30, 2008: Argyle's summer shipping policy will be in effect. Shipments of wines to the Northwest will continue as usual, however we'll be paying cautious attention to FedEx Ground shipments to hotter states like California, Texas, Florida and the Carolinas. If Ground shipments are an unsafe bet, then we'll either hold your wines in our temperature controlled cellar until the hot weather breaks, or we'll contact you to arrange FedEx Overnight shipment (prices vary). If you're in one of the hot zones, your best bet is to select FedEx Overnight shipping when placing your wine order.

Why this policy? Extreme heat and cold can ruin wine. Typically, boxes of wine sent by FedEx Ground will travel on trucks not outfitted with temperature cotrols in the cargo areas. If it's 90° or so outside, it can often top 100° inside the cargo area, quickly turning your precious wine sour and unpalatable. This is unacceptable to us (you'll probably agree), so we take measures to prevent Ground-shipment-related heat damage.

Recap: During the summer and winter we HOLD FedEx Ground shipments if the weather is too hot or too cold. Overnight FedEx orders will be shipped immediately. We cannot be held responsible if you demand FedEx Ground shipment and the wines travel in a climate outside a safe temperature range.

During the summer months, some ground shipments to the Pacific Northwest (OR & WA) will be available if and when weather conditions allow.
