Wine & Spirits Mag – Most Popular Sparkling Wines

Posted on April 14, 2009

According to Wine & Spirits Magazine, the most popular sparkling wines being served in restaurants have shifted from the all-French domination of yore to a diverse mix of French, Italian and American sparklers. One third of the list is now American, with two sparkling wines from CA and one – Argyle’s Willamette Valley Brut – from Oregon.

Don’t forget – our tasting room is open every day from 11am to 5pm except major holidays. You’re welcome to stop by to taste the Argyle Brut or any other wine still in stock.

New Release – 2006 Black Brut!

Posted on April 10, 2009

Our Black Brut is gaining quite a following – 100% Oregon Pinot Noir from the Dundee Hills AVA (Knudsen Vineyards, of course) given the Methode Champenoise treatment, resulting in a surprisingly delicious, deep ruby red sparkling wine.

Tasting Notes
The Black Brut is back with a blast! Fresh and complex with pomegranate, elderberry and black cherry aromas blanketing an unmistakable Dundee Hills minerality. Elegant Tahitian vanilla and crimson fruit effervesces while hints of pink peppercorn, dried rose petal and ginger spices caress the palate. The flavor is surprisingly long lasting and leads to fine contemplation of terroir and mineral structure. Fuji apple, malina and a crispy baguette edge round off with a juicy black currant finish. This ruby-red Brut is a treat on its own, yet the lithe texture makes it a great complement to any hearty meal.
