Argyle Vineyard Update
Posted on May 29, 2009
A quick run out to Knudsen Vineyards on Thursday netted some nice photos and a good-news update on vine growth. Vines, leaves and clusters all look gorgeous, just as they should in this near-perfect climate in the high Dundee Hills. These clusters are pre-bloom Chardonnay. In about two weeks, the clusters will become flowers, and those flowers will produce the tiny berries that will grow into wine grapes.

Leaves are deep, rich green, just bursting with photosynthetic life.

These clusters will eventually produce wine that will likely find its way into a bottle of Argyle Brut.

Overlooking the Willamette Valley… a southeast view towards Mt Hood and Mt Jefferson.

Vines arching toward the sun. As if this wasn’t beautiful enough, in a few weeks the flowers (and the entire vineyard) will smell of sweet citrus blossom and honey. It’s delicious sensory paradise.

Time Lapse Video of Sunrise at Knudsen Vineyards
Posted on May 2, 2009
Here’s a nice treat – a time lapse video showing the sun rise and day break at Knudsen Vineyards. It’s a sequence of 670 images from 4:45am till 11:30am. Check out the vineyard crew, the tractor and occasional birds. Of course, the clouds are awesome, too. Enjoy!

Photos from Knudsen Vineyards

Ever wonder what it’s like to stand at the top of one of the best vineyards in Oregon long before the sun rises? Skip the 3:45am alarm clock and the cold mountain wind – here are some photos for you to enjoy!
Mt Hood is in the distance. City lights are from Dundee and Newberg, Oregon.

Moments before the sun crested over the horizon. Clouds were moving fast.

With the sun hovering over Mt Hood, the vineyard brightens up, birds quiet down and the vines start to soak up as many rays as possible.

These Chardonnay buds are only weeks old. By August they’ll bear beautiful clusters of fruit.

More Chardonnay…

More Chardonnay, silhouetted against the sun….

More photos soon…
