The Wines in Your May Shipment
2018 Knudsen Vineyard Brut
The distinctive parcel of Pinot Noir that is the source for our Knudsen Vineyard Brut was planted in 1974, at an elevation of 900 feet. Fermenting and aging in neutral wood barrels helped to build layers of creamy complexity, showcasing layers of grapefruit, orange peel, and white pepper that glide to a long, silky finish.

2020 Lone Star Vineyard Chardonnay
The 2020 Lone Star Vineyard Chardonnay comes from a single parcel of Dijon 96 planted in 2000 in shallow, volcanic soils at an elevation of 325 feet. Picked before the fires of 2020, this Chardonnay is showing vibrant energy and persistent, steely length. On the palate, generous flavors of lemon blossom, apple, and spice are layered with energetic nerve and detailed precision.
2019 Lone Star Vineyard Chardonnay
Our third vintage of Lone Star Vineyard Chardonnay was blended from one neutral puncheon of Dijon Clone 96 and one new barrique of Dijon Clone 95, both planted in Lone Star’s shallow volcanic soils between 1999 and 2000. Aged on full lees for 16 months, it shows spicy depth, and tantalizing layers of apple, apricot, and lemon verbena, along with energetic nerve and creamy length.
2019 Lone Star Vineyard Pinot Noir
Lone Star Vineyard Pinot Noir is blended from three prized parcels that focus on the more delicate side of the Eola-Amity Hills. These three blocks are situated at the top of the vineyard at 400 feet elevation, planted in 2002 and 2005. Flavors of red cherry, fresh violet, and spiced tea are buoyed by a dense core of fresh, vibrant acidity, while finishing with polished, yet, firm tannins.
2019 Whole Cluster Lone Star Vineyard Pinot Noir
Lone Star Vineyard displays the structured, yet refined character of the Eola-Amity Hills, with full-stem inclusion bringing fresh, floral complexity to its dark and savory core. Offering layers of wild cherry, dark chocolate, and rose petal, the fine-grained tannins and delicate complexity are balanced with the crispness of the 2019 vintage.
2010 Extended Tirage Knudsen Vineyard Blanc de Blancs
Argyle’s Extended Tirage wines are aged for ten years on the yeast and disgorged on demand to ensure freshness. Argyle’s Tirage Library in in Dundee has sparkling wines still aging on the yeast, dating back to our first vintage in 1987.
2010 Extended Tirage Knudsen Vineyard Brut
Bottle fermented and aged ten years on the yeast, Argyle ‘Extended Tirage’ Knudsen Vineyard Brut is among the rarest wines made in America today and is the culmination of our founding ambition to create wines that endure.
2017 Knudsen Vineyard Blanc de Blancs
Argyle ‘Extended Tirage’ wines are crowning achievements for vintage grower Sparkling Wine. Bottle fermented and aged ten years on the yeast, Argyle ‘Extended Tirage’ Knudsen Vineyard Brut is among the rarest wines made in America today and is the culmination of our founding ambition to create wines that endure.
2018 Lone Star Vineyard Chardonnay
Our second bottling of Lone Star Vineyard Chardonnay comes from a single parcel of Dijon 95, delivering white peach, layered spice, and delicate Jasmine persist with energetic nerve and creamy length.
2019 Nuthouse Pinot Noir
Nuthouse wines were created to be Argyle’s expression of pure fruit and luxury. Nuthouse style is the ultimate showcase for this ideal vintage, making it delicious now but also cellar-worthy for at least a decade.
“Lone Star Vineyard is dynamic and energetic, while also being our most consistent site. Lone Star brings depth and structure to our Nuthouse wines, while highlighting its delicate side in our single-vineyard bottlings”. — Nate Klostermann, Winemaker
The May Club shipment celebrates our Lone Star Vineyard. Four of the five wines featured this month are Lone Star single-vineyard bottlings.
The purchase of Lone Star Vineyard in 1996 represents much more than a financial transaction. This purchase really solidified Argyle’s commitment to winemaking in the Willamette Valley. After much searching and negotiating—not to mention the drama that always seems to come with acquisitions of this nature–Lone Star Vineyard became Argyle’s first vineyard purchase.

Celebrate 35 years with Argyle!
As we continue our 35th year of producing wine, we are thrilled to celebrate with you! We have started out the year with an exciting new “Argyle After Hours” program that will last through the end of the summer. This combines an educational experience to learn more about the wines that we have worked so hard to craft through these first 35 years, along with enjoying the Tasting House space in a more intimate experience.
Throughout this summer, Nate will be sharing with us what makes our wines so special and what there is to look forward to for the next 35 years. Keep your eyes out for special invitations to the “Argyle After Hours” events, PDX Jazz concerts, and an anniversary celebration at the Tasting House, all of which will include some rare and show-stopping wines.
