Your 2023 September Wine Club Shipment

WHERE WERE YOU 10 YEARS AGO?

Celebrating Nate Klostermann’s 10 Years as Winemaker!

This year, we’re celebrating a significant milestone—Nate Klostermann’s remarkable 10-year journey as Winemaker at Argyle. Nate’s connection with Argyle commenced in 2005 when he joined us as a harvest intern, laboring in the cellars of Dundee. Over the years, he rapidly absorbed the time-honored traditions of sparkling winemaking. When we asked Nate to reflect on where he was a decade ago, he fondly recalls his inaugural vintage as a winemaker. He reminisces about the evolution of our winemaking facilities, the infectious enthusiasm of the harvest team, and the remarkable strides our team has taken since then.

What better way to commemorate this extraordinary milestone than by raising a chilled glass of our 2013 Extended Tirage Brut? Join us in celebrating Nate’s 10 years of dedication and excellence as Winemaker at Argyle Winery.

We hope you enjoy your Fall club selections and can’t wait to see you at our next member event!

2013 Extended Tirage Brut

We’re transported back ten years ago with our 2013 Extended Tirage – back to the warmth and ripeness of the vintage. Juicy with pear and golden apples, our Extended Tirage is round and vibrant with a fine mousse creating a weighted richness. Aged en tirage all this time, the additional aromatics of baked spice cake developed – a festive melody of flavors and textures to pair with sweet Tarte Tatin or Pork Roulade.

2019 Knudsen Vineyard Sparkling Pinot Meunier

Crafted exclusively from Pinot Meunier grapes, this wine offers a remarkable finesse that reflects the unique terroir of Knudsen Vineyard. With its enticing notes of ripe white strawberries and delicate cherry blossoms, this sparkling wine is a delightful pink explosion of flavor. Interestingly, while it tantalizes the palate with its pink-hued taste profile, it maintains a visually stunning appearance of a classic white sparkling wine.

2021 Spirit Hill Vineyard Chardonnay

This smooth Chardonnay is electric with acidity and zest. With the modern classic growing season at this high-elevation vineyard, we taste even more of the flinty gunsmoke and just ripe chokecherry. There is a ton of potential here as we allow for aging. Can’t wait? That’s all right, we can’t either!

2021 Spirit Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir

Situated at 700 to 850 feet in elevation, where the vines are engulfed by the Eola-Amity Hill’s persistent drying winds, Spirit Hill Vineyard is always our last Pinot Noir to be picked and handled in the winery. Layers of dark berries, black tea, and river rocks are laced within a framework of structured tannins and mineral tension that drive this Pinot Noir to a long, energetic finish

2021 Eola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir

Selected from older vines from both Lone Star and Spirit Hill, this blend of Pinot Noir is iconically Eola-Amity Hills. It exudes a sense of dark fruit and decadence on the nose, setting the stage for a similar experience on the palate. As you sip, you’ll discern hints of dark chocolate, black raspberries, and dried blueberries, each flavor unfurling delicately. What truly elevates this wine is the texture it offers: soft tannins, attributed to a pocket of deep Jory soils, along with bright acidity, beautifully tie the mouthfeel together, creating a harmonious and memorable tasting experience.

2021 Spirithouse Riesling

At the top of Lone Star Vineyard, planted to high density on devigorated rootstock, our Riesling soaks up the morning Eola-Amity Hills sunshine throughout the growing season. In a break from the most recent vintages, we direct pressed the majority of the fruit to capture more vibrance and electric energy. Fermented and aged in a combination of neutral oak barrel, puncheon, and concrete egg, the Spirithouse Riesling strives for nuanced texture and density. Lemon pith, white peach, and wet stone build with creamy depth and delicate length.
