PNCA 2024 Artists in Vineyard

2024 PNCA Artist Bios

Created by Argyle Winery to support the talents of student artists, the Art of Sparkling program is a unique collaboration with the Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA). Each year, three PNCA student artists are selected to receive the Argyle scholarship. The students then immerse themselves in the Argyle story by visiting the vineyards, winery and Tasting House. This experience serves as inspiration for their artwork. The three pieces of art are then turned into labels for the Art of Sparkling 3-bottle set.

Savannah Sanford

Savannah Sanford is a Printmaking major at PNCA.  Savanah’s work encompasses ideas of eco-feminism with textile design through printmaking, foraging, crafting and sustainability.

“Natural Femininity”

“Natural Femininity” is botanically printed, using plants and natural pigments directly sourced from Argyle vineyards.  Red dyes, and solar printed cottons inspired by the flora and fauna of Oregon wine country were stitched together to represent sustainability, strength, and balance found at Argyle.  The label was inspired and is dedicated to the nurturing female presence, and leadership, at Argyle.

Aries Brock

Aries Brock is a General Fine Arts major at PNCA.  Aries’ art style can best be described as transcendental futurism—focusing on the combination of spiritual with a potential utopian future.  Inspiration comes from the natural world, looking to the sky for intriguing color relationships during times of sunrise and sunset, and paying attention to the beautiful gradients that fill the skies.

“Witness”

“Witness” speaks to the experience of seeing the Lone Star vineyard and its hillside view for the first time. The area is so alive and in tune with itself. The vineyard acts as a guardian and watches over all of its systems.

India Rel-McNeese

India Rel-McNeese is an Illustration major at PNCA.  Much of India’s work explores identity, womanhood, and mental health.  Influences include personal experiences, fairy tales and the natural world.

“On The Horizon”

“On The Horizon” explores cycles, the changes of seasons, growth, renewal and rejuvenation. The piece was created with gouache paint, allowing for a blend of line form. It is a piece meant to honor the spark of creation and the passion that drives us to bring something special into the world.
